Tomy Big Loader blue motorized chassis stopped driving the loop — we cleared lint from the gearbox, renewed battery contacts and motor wiring, and the power unit pulls loaders around the track again.

The repair

The blue Tomy Big Loader power unit would not drive on the track — a common failure on these 1970s–90s sets when hair and grit pack the gearbox and battery tabs oxidize. We disassembled the chassis, cleaned the wheels and reversing gearbox, refreshed the motor leads and switch, and bench-tested forward travel before reassembly.

About this item

Single Tomy Big Loader motorized power chassis (Japanese Tomy; also sold as Big Big Loader and regional Thomas or Postman Pat branded sets). Dark blue/teal squat four-wheel unit with a forward arrow on top, front bumper peg, and a reversing gearbox driving knobby black wheels. AA cells (one or two depending on 1977 US orange chassis vs later Thailand revisions) power the loop track for loader and dump accessories. Pair of white shell bodies for the same system: see project 0093.
