Vintage tan plush puppy dog

A well-loved tan plush puppy dog, a companion for more than thirty years, came in matted and tired with a dull nose, scuffed eyes, and small fabric tears. We deep cleaned the curly pile, repainted the nose, polished the eyes, and mended the minor tears so he sits bright and cuddly again.

The repair

This puppy had been a cuddly companion for more than thirty years, so the tan curly pile was matted and grubby, the fabric nose had faded and worn, the plastic eyes had lost their shine, and there were minor tears at stress points around the muzzle and seams. We deep cleaned the fur and body, repainted the nose, polished both eyes, and repaired the small tears with matched stitching so the plush looks fresh and is secure for more cuddles.

About this item

This vintage tan plush puppy is a sitting golden-retriever-style dog from the late 1980s or 1990s gift-plush era — curly or sherpa-like polyester pile in biscuit tan, long floppy ears with pink inner lining, a fabric or coated nose patch, large black plastic safety eyes, and a simple stitched mouth line. That puppy silhouette with oversized head and seated pose was common across department-store and florist plush lines (often Korea- or China-made imports) before modern licensed character brands dominated nursery aisles. Construction is typically a sewn plush shell with polyester fiberfill and plastic facial parts. Identify by fur texture, ear lining colour, and scale when a sewn tag is missing.
