The repair

The iguana arrived as a standard store plush — green pile, factory orange spikes, and simple plastic eyes — not yet shaped like Mr. Jones. We matched felt and fabric swatches to the green skin, pink tongue, and spike colours, then opened the back seam and removed the original crest row and stuffing. Arm and foot seams were opened to stitch black felt claws on each finger and toe. A new pink tongue was sewn and mounted into the mouth and head. Replacement eyes were fitted, the body was restuffed evenly, and the seams were closed. Story photos and chapter stills were captured from the finished YouTube repair video with kid narration.

About this item

Mr. Jones is the iguana pet from Disney·Pixar’s 2013 Halloween special Toy Story of Terror!, voiced in the film as Ron’s motel companion. On screen he reads as a bright green lizard with an orange dorsal crest, black claws, wide stylised eyes, and a long pink tongue — more exaggerated than a real iguana, but clearly lizard-like in silhouette. Licensed merchandise exists: a roughly 12-inch Just Play plush tied to the special (often sold through Toys “R” Us around 2015) with soft body plush, stiffer crest and claw details, and a collar — collector references include Dan the Pixar Fan and Pixar Post write-ups of the 2015 Just Play retail plush. That SKU (UPC 886144211614 on some listings) is distinct from this job: here the owner supplied a generic green iguana-style retail plush (long body, orange spike strip, plastic eyes) as the base, and the workshop rebuilt it by hand to match the Mr. Jones look rather than restoring an official tag.
